The China Management Research Institute (CMRI) was launched on 21st of Jan 2011, with a Steering Committee chaired by Prof. Richard Harrison, the director of Queen’s University Management School (QUMS). CMRI is established to further strengthen the connection between Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) and China. CMRI is working with a diversity of organizations in China, including educational institutions, business organizations, local governments and non-governmental organizations. The rapid growth of China in economy, scientific research and education provides unique opportunities for QUMS. Specifically, there opportunities include:
- To conduct academic research programmes related to Chinese management issues with Chinese partners;
- To develop customized training programmes for Chinese managers with Chinese partners;
- To establish a China UK international Entrepreneurship programme with Chinese partners by 2011;
- To host outstanding Chinese visiting professors/scholars/students to do academic research here relating to China;
The establishment of CMRI can enhance QUMS’ ability in reaching these opportunities and exploring new ones. Furthermore, it can provide managerial insights for managers both in China and UK to do business between the two countries.
