Stephen has been a lecturer in the School since 1998. He previously worked as a research assistant at the University of Ulster and as a planner for the Planning Service where he obtained experience in forward planning, development control and planning enforcement. As a member of both the RTPI and IPI he has sat on local and national panels and has been expert adviser to the RTPI Countryside Panel. Stephen was given the RTPI Seedcorn Research Award in 1999 and is a Research Associate of the Institute of Irish Studies. He was appointed as an honorary professor at the East China Institute of Technology in 2008.
