Taking Part In Research

  • If you are interested in taking part in a research study, there are many ways to get involved. Patients can ask their GP or Consultant to consider any studies that they may be suitable for. You could also visit the Be Part of Research website for information about clinical trials running in the UK. Just enter your postcode and find out information about studies in Northern Ireland.
  • Most studies involve strict criteria for participation, therefore most patients approved in the NICRF are approached by their clinical staff. At your next appointment, you should let your clinical team know that you are interested.
  • Some disease / conditions keep registries of patients interested in becoming involved in future research. Please see the 'Our Research' section. If the research team know about a specific registry, they will have details there.

Healthy Volunteers

  • Some studies look for healthy volunteers rather than people with specific medical conditions. If you are interested in joining a research study, please see our 'Our Research' section. If a study states they are looking for healthy volunteers then please contact the researcher associated with the study directly.
