Arts in Health

Project Leaders: Dr. Sue Morison and Dr. Jenny Elliott

Since 2005, Arts in Health Education has made a significant contribution to the curriculum of medical and healthcare students. The Centre for Excellence in Interprofessional Education (CEIPE) has developed, hosted and facilitated a series of interactive arts in health projects within the context of international medical and interprofessional education.

Interagency and community participation have been key elements of this innovative work. The Arts in Health Education programme includes students and staff participating in a range of arts-based education projects in partnership with local and international based artists, Arts in Health organisations and Healthcare Trusts.

Now in its fifth year, the Arts in Health Education programme developed from an Arts in Health Special Study module offered as an optional course to medical students. The programme embraces a range of projects that provide training to medical students and students from other Schools such as the Social Sciences and Film Media at undergraduate and post graduate levels.

The following projects have been developed:

  • Arts in Health Medical Module
  • Mental Health Interprofessional Project 2008-10
