Medicines Governance
Project Leader: Dr. Paul Collier
A series of uniprofessional workshops in the area of medicines governance were conducted with all 3rd year nursing, 4th year pharmacy and 5th year medical students. Follow-up interprofessional workshops were then held for students from the various disciplines. Within the interprofessional workshops students were provided with a series of case studies relating to issues of medication safety, which they work through in interprofessional groups. Feedback on the case studies was disseminated to the whole group and facilitated by the workshop leader.
As part of the e-learning dimension of CEIPE, the interprofessional workshops were video recorded and CDs produced for students unable to attend. These were then disseminated and students were invited to participate in an on-line interprofessional discussion board. This aspect of the work was in turn evaluated by on-line questionnaire.
The combined approach of the interprofessional workshops and interactive CD provided students from each discipline an opportunity to engage with one another in an interprofessional context on the issue of medication safety.
