Genetic Requests

The N. Ireland Cancer Registry provides information to clinical genetics services throughout the UK.  Over  98% of genetic requests in 2013 were completed within the recommended 10 working days.

A Cancer Genetics Service Nurse extracts data for Northern Ireland referrals only (approximately 80% of total) from the N. Ireland Cancer Registry database and is responsible for targets regarding requests turnaround time for Northern Ireland requests.  This arrangement was commended in the peer review of the Registry.

This service is covered by informed consent for living patients.  The number of requests for this type on information is expected to rise as new therapies based on familial cancer risks are developed.

If neither of the above methods suffice, you can contact the NICR staff directly with your request. It will be considered, and if it is felt that the request does not contravene our Confidentiality Policy we will prepare the data for you.  To download the necessary data release forms click this link.
