Piccolo

The Piccolo has just under a three octave melodic range from d2– d5.

The piccolo, the highest sounding instrument in a flute band, is the only instrument to be made of wood played in the ensemble. In arrangements, it is used mainly as a decorative instrument, but does also play the melody from time to time. The piccolo has a three octave range and sounds an octave higher than written.
