8th Launch of new book about the archaeology of Belfast by Ruairí Ó Baoill. The book, titled Hidden History Below Our Feet: The Archaeological Story of Belfast was launched by the Environment Minister Alex Atwood MLA and Professor Audrey Horning. 17th - 28th The CAF led an excavation at Ballyaghagan Cashel with the Belfast Hills Partnership 
8th  Belfast Young Archaeologists' Club is visiting the Ulster Museum for a gruesome session on 'Body Modification'.
5th Lecture by Dr Harry Welsh to Lisburn Historical Society, entitled 'Tomb Travel, introduction to the megalithic tombs of Northern Ireland'.

Past News

 

June 2011 The volunteer excavation at Castlecaulfield, Co. Tyrone attracts a large amount of interest.
June 2011 The CAF dig at Dunluce Castle, Co. Antrim for a third season.
March 2011 Dr Harry Welsh's book 'Tomb Travel' is launched. The book, which was written on behalf of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and published by TSO Ireland, generated a lot of publicity including an interview on BBC Radio Ulster programme 'Your Place and Mine', a slot on BBC Newsline and reviews in various local newspapers including the Irish News and the Belfast News Letter. The book is still available to buy through the TSO website.
Dec  2010     A documentary called 'Plantation: the Truth and the Legacy' was aired on UTV. Several members of the CAF took part in the programme including Dr Emily Murray, who was one of the presenters.
Oct   2010 The excavation at Tirnony portal tomb, Maghera, Co. Londonderry begins. The dig has its own blog and Facebook page. The site was also in local papers and twice in the Belfast Telegraph.
