The following points may be useful in connection with your arrival, and stay in Belfast.
TRAVELGetting to Queen’s University:
The main entrance to Queen’s University is on University Road. To get to Queen’s University, the following information may be useful.
Arriving from the Airport:
There are two Belfast airports: Belfast International Airport (BFS) and Belfast City Airport (BHD)
Belfast International Airport is situated about 20 miles from the city centre. A taxi to the University will cost around £30. There is also a shuttle bus, which departs from outside the terminal outside the terminal building every half hour and goes to the Great Victoria (Europa) Bus Station (its terminus). The shuttle costs approximately £6 single and £9 return.
For further information on getting to and from the airport by bus and car, go to the airport website: http://www.belfastairport.com/en/content.asp?area=2&id=62
Belfast City Airport is situated about 5 miles from the City Centre. A taxi to the University will cost around £10. There is also a shuttle bus, which departs from outside the terminal building every 20 minutes and terminates at the Great Victoria (Europa) Bus Station. The return fare is £2.20.
Travel from the Bus Station to Queen's University:
If you take the airport shuttle(s) and arrive at the Great Victoria (Europa) Bus Station, you can take a taxi onwards to the University. A taxi fare will cost approximately £3.
There are also regular bus services to the University. Leave the bus station through the main exit onto Great Victoria Street (you will see the Europa Hotel to your left), cross the road and you will find a bus stop. The 8A, 8B, and 8C all go to Queen’s University (there is a bus stop directly outside the main building). Fares to Queen’s are £1.
You can also walk to the University from the bus station – exit the bus station on to Great Victoria Street, turn right, and follow the road for about 10 minutes until you reach the University. See the map at www.qub.ac.uk/home/TheUniversity/Location/Maps/Belfast/
Travel from Central Station:
You can easily get a taxi from Central Station, and the fare to Queen’s University will be approximately £5.
You can also take a suburban train to Botanic Station, from where the University is less than a 5 minutes walk (turn left as you come out of the Station, walk along Botanic Avenue for around 200 metres, and this takes you to the campus).
You can also take a bus to the City Hall (free with a valid rail ticket), from where you can catch either the 8A, 8B, or 8C to Queen’s University.
