Industry Interaction

The Institute of Agri-Food & Land Use (IAFLU) has a strong commitment to interaction with industry to ensure graduates are prepared for employment and are aware of career opportunities.

Curriculum Boards

IAFLU has established Curriculum Boards for each of its Undergraduate programmes.  They include representatives from: 

  • Agri-Food & Biosciences Institute
  • Avondale Foods 
  • Council for Awards of Royal Agricultural Societies 
  • Dairy Council for Northern Ireland 
  • Dairy Produce Packers Ltd 
  • DARD Countryside & Heritage Services
  • Environment & Heritage Service 
  • Food & Drink Training Council
  • Moypark 
  • LANTRA - Land Use Sector Skills Council 
  • Livestock & Meat Commission 
  • Northern Ireland Food & Drink Association
  • Rural Community Network 
  • Wallace High School 
  • Ulster Farmers Union 
  • Ulster Hospital  
  • Improve - Food Sector Skills Council

These Boards meet twice a year and advice the institute on aspects of the programmes including course content and work placement. The board members are also involved in atteding poster and oral presentations given by the students. IAFLU also interact with the industry more widely through work placement.
