Research
IAFLU has a vigorous research programme that focuses on four complementary themes:
Research is undertaken in a suite of state-of-the-art laboratories. These are extremely well equipped with a wide range of bioanalytical, physio-chemical, microbiological and cell culture related instrumentation.
- We provide a highly stimulating environment for research, including links with many international research groups based in regions such as Europe,
USA, Canada and China - A high proportion of the research is funded by competitively won proposals
submitted to international programmes - The IAFLU reseachers are a high talented, multi-national team

safefood alongside IAFLU have established a number of knowledge networks on the island of Ireland (IOI) to further the integration of food safety and food behaviour capacities by creating linkages between professionals. The networks build on the strengths of the former research networks that ran for a period of five years until March 2009 by expanding and enhancing broad participation across disciplines and sectors of the food chain on an all-island basis.
To register and become part of the networks, please visit the safefoods Networks website.
Visit the safefoods website to submit an abstract or register for the Conference or Technical Workshop.
The Society for Contract Researchers & Postdoctoral Staff (SCR&PS) was established in 2010 in response to the needs of the growing number of contract research staff (CRS) working within the Institute of Agri-Food and Land Use (IAFLU). All contract staff, whether full time or part time, working within IAFLU are welcome to become members of SCR&PS.
The SCR&PS mission is to represent, assist and engage CRS in IAFLU to identify solutions for improving personal development, career progression and social interaction so that CRS can recognise their full potential.
