Interventions
The Problem
Obesity is a leading public health problem. Due to its deleterious effect on quality of life and its association with diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer, strategies are required to aid weight loss or prevent weight gain. Current strategies are proving ineffective.
The Research
The biological mechanisms that influence body weight are still poorly understood. The aim of our research is to determine how the physiological appetite system interacts with environmental factors to determine eating behaviour and consequently body weight.
The Anticipated Outcomes
Research that characterizes the appetite system may result in new or improved interventions that promote healthy body weight.
