Research Profile
Yun Yun joined the Institute recently. Prior to this she worked as a Senior Lecturer in the University of Leeds, where she was leading the mycotoxin research group. With more than 20 years' experience in combining laboratory and epidemiological studies in the area of food, nutrition and human health, Dr Gong has established an international reputation in child health studies in the field of diet and environmental exposure to mycotoxins. Her research focuses on food contaminants and their adverse effects on human health, specifically in child growth and immunity. This primarily involves developing and applying biomarkers for human exposure assessment and conducting interventions to reduce exposure using public health approaches. She leads several large international collaborative research projects, and her work has generated numerous high impact research papers. Dr Gong is a working group member for the European Food Safety Authority on Fusarium mycotoxin risk assessment.
