UK Mediation Competition 2014

The UK Law School Mediation Competition for 2014 took place at Queen’s University Belfast on the 23rd and 24th of January 2014. Teams from Law Schools throughout the UK travelled to Belfast for the final.

Each team had four members and the competition had four separate rounds, involving a 60-minute mediation led by two co-mediators from the same team and culminating in a self-reflection by those mediators. Although the day was busy, it was also great fun. After the competition was complete, the participants were able to relax and enjoy a post-event prize-giving dinner in the Canada Room on University Campus.

In a hard-fought contest, the winners for 2014 were Kaplan Law School. The team from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies comprising Paula Fitzpatrick (McKinty and Wright), Le-ann Campbell (Arthur Cox), Keith McCoy (Breslin and McCormick) and Rosie Timoney (Carson McDowell) were delighted to be awarded 2nd place in the final with Paula Fitzpatrick winning the best overall mediator award.
