Undergraduates in the Institute of Theology may study for one of the following degree programmes:
Bachelor of Divinity (single honours)
Bachelor of Theology (single honours)
Bachelor of Theology (major honours)
Bachelor of Arts (joint honours)
and an undergraduate Diploma in Theology.
All undergraduate degree courses in Theology are of three years duration (for full-time study). Students are required to take 18 modules, normally 6 per year. In year 1 most students study core modules in Church History, Old and New Testament, and Historical Theology. In years 2 and 3 students can choose from a wider range of modules with minimal core requirements. This allows students to specialise in certain areas of theology. Bachelor of Divinity students are required to take modules in Hebrew and Greek; for other students these subjects are optional.
Theology can also be taken with another subject via the Bachelor of Theology (major honours) or Bachelor of Arts (joint honours) degree programmes. From 2012, BA degrees may be taken with English, History or Philosophy.?
Students with other qualifications should contact the Admissions Offics for guidance.
Offers for mature students may take into account an applicant's previous work or non-A level study experience. The latter may include certain certificates and diplomas available at the Colleges. Students who intend to opt for major/minor or joint honours degree should note that special course requirements may be needed for other subjects or their choice. Offers for these courses tend to be in line with offers made in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
