The Institute of Irish Studies celebrated its 50th birthday in March 2015. It was the first of its kind to be established in the world. Today it is one of the leading centres for research-led teaching in Irish Studies and is an internationally renowned centre of interdisciplinary Irish scholarship.
In the five decades since the Institute's first Director, Professor Estyn Evans, aimed to 'build a gateway to Irish Studies', the Institute has provided a home for researchers and students alike, making an enormous contribution to the interdisciplinary field.
Our activities include:
- MA in Irish Studies
- PhD opportunities
- International Summer School in Irish Studies
- Seminar Programmes
- Short Study Programmes and Study Abroad
We also disseminate information on Irish Studies related projects, events and conferences both at QUB and globally. Follow our Facebook feed (right) to keep up to date with what's happening in Irish Studies.
