Welcome

The Institute plays a key role in contemporary Irish research. Research interests include parading, ritual and symbolism, St. Patrick’s day and wider policy engagements on urban space and conflict. The Irish Studies Initiative, a major five-year investment, will develop further Queen's world-class strength in this research area.

Our interdisciplinary MA in Irish Studies, is eligible for scholarships and bursaries offered by the School of History and Anthropology. In 2010, the International Summer School celebrates its tenth year. These programmes provide lively interdisciplinary teaching across disciplines such as history, politics, literature, anthropology, conflict resolution, language, folklore and archaeology. Students are drawn from all over Ireland, and as far afield as Europe, the US, Canada, Japan and Australia. Visit us on Facebook
