Course Modules

The course consists of four taught modules, and a 15,000–word dissertation. For MA students, one of the modules in the first semester must be a research methods course. Some options may require that particular methods courses be taken or that the student have a particular academic background.  Important note: semester 1 runs from September to January and semester 2  runs from end of January to June.

The MA programme is arranged into the thematic areas listed below (students choose three modules/courses from one of these areas, in addition to one module which must be from the Research Methods section). The following modules are offered (not all of which may be available each year).
