Irish literature and intellectual history in the long eighteenth century and British Romantic literature.
Dr Shelley Meagher is currently investigating Irish literary and intellectual patronage 1760-1820, focussing on the patronage of Francis Rawdon-Hastings, second earl of Moira, and the communities and networks created through his patronage.
Dr Meagher also studies Irish knowledge and representations of Islam in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, and the influence of Ireland’s social and political conditions in the literary devices employed by Irish writers in this period.
