Vassilis Papavassiliou earned his PhD in Finance from QUMS under the supervision of Professor Michael Moore. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a master’s degree in finance and banking from the Athens University of Economics and Business. His research interests span the areas of market microstructure, high-frequency finance and asset pricing.
Vassilis brings over fifteen years of investment banking experience and has held senior management positions in both multinational and Greek domestic banking institutions, including Citibank. In this capacity he was involved in and led multiple capital market projects, such as the implementation of remote participation in HDAT – the Greek electronic secondary securities market - for foreign credit and financial institutions and the “Markets in Financial Instruments Directive – MiFID” project. He is an active member of various working groups at the Bank of Greece and the Hellenic Bank Association and a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece.
Vassilis often prepares academic modules and delivers finance lectures and technical presentations to both undergraduate and postgraduate students at different private colleges. He is a certified portfolio manager and investment consultant from the Hellenic Capital Market Commission.
