Research Title and a short description of project:
Media and the Housing Market: Capturing the Non-Fundamental Element of Bubble-Like Pricing.
This paper examines the role of news media in the UK housing market from 1993-2008. Over 25,000 housing market articles from UK national newspapers and 4,000 articles from the BBC News website are collected and analysed using content analysis software. The impact of the sentiment of these articles, how optimistic they are, and the amount of housing market coverage in the UK media are modelled to better understand how media coverage affects markets.
