The Telecommunications Incumbent: an endangered species. Can the incumbents provide an insight into the realities of innovation within large mature organisations?

Set in the context of the telecommunications industry my research uses the  Resource Based View (Penrose,1959; Wernerfelt, 1984; Barney, 1991) as a lens to examine the organisational attributes of  long established telecommunications incumbents  and explores whether these attributes can  influence innovation within large mature business enterprises.
