Queen’s University is viewed as the ‘powerhouse’ of the economy in Northern Ireland’s first Programme for Government and central to Northern Ireland’s ambition to become an internationally competitive region. Key to realising this ambition is the opening of the new dedicated, state-of-the-art Postgraduate and Executive Education Centre at Riddel Hall, off Stranmillis Road. Queen’s University Management School (QUMS), a top 20 UK management school, is based here.
One feature of this new facility is a dedicated financial trading room that recreates the excitement of an investment bank trading floor, and provides students with hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. Real-time data feeds from major exchanges will be displayed on terminals and wall screens, and industry-standard software packages will be used to provide the best possible introduction to technology used in Investment Banking.
The provision of the Trading Room has relied upon the pivotal support of two long-term project partners - First Derivatives Plc and Invest NI. They will play an active role in ensuring the room is fully optimised.
