About the Trading Room

Queen’s University is viewed as the ‘powerhouse’ of the regional economy and is therefore central to Northern Ireland’s ambition to become an internationally competitive region. Key to realising this ambition is the new state of the art management school and a key feature of this facility is the First Derivatives Trading room, supported by Invest NI.

Designed to replicate a professional dealing room, this facility aims to bridge the gap between the theoretical and the practical, subsequently improving employability. Bloomberg is incorporated into a selection of courses and the new MSc Computational Finance and Trading has been made possible by the trading room. The facility allows students to use the same software as market professionals and gain experience of trading and investment in a simulated and real world context.
