QUTIC

‌

"Individuals who cannot master their emotions are ill-suited to profit from the investment process."- Benjamin Graham.

QUTIC (Queens University Trading and Investment Club) is a new club introduced in conjunction with the new First Derivatives Trading Room in Riddel Hall. Two members of staff (Dr Barry Quinn and Dr Fotios Papailias) have created this new club to engage students with the practical reality of trading and investment.

Students will experience a simulation of real-world trading while demonstrating their abilities to analyse, strategise and make portfolio decisions. They will gain an invaluable glimpse into the real world of the capital markets as well as true insight into themselves and their suitability to a finance career.

Activities include:

  1. The Queen's Student Managed Fund (QSMF).
  2. A Virtual Trading Competition with real prizes.
  3. Industry Professionals; a seminar series where finance professionals impart their years of experience.
  4. CFA Student Equity Research Challenge.

Active learning

Classroom learning is the core to your education but in the financial world we learn best by doing. In a simulation of real-world market conditions club members will see how their decisions will have real consequence for their trading book's return. In this way each student will get a clear grasp of their skills and abilities in an investment career.

Take Flight

You and your fellow student participants are tomorrows finance leaders. After taking part in the trading club, you will hit the ground running, thanks to everything you've learned and experienced, and all the influential people you've met.
