DEL funded (Department for Employment and Learning Studentships) PhD projects are advertised on the school website - usually with a deadline in early January for entry the following autumn.

Other sources of funding that students can apply for and that have an annual call include the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
The School of Biological Sciences also has PhD projects funded by various sources including the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), European Commission FP 7, European Union's INTERREG programmes and the Irish Marine Institute etc. These projects are advertised on our website as they become available.
