The School of Biological Science recently hosted the Society of Biology Life Science Careers conference in the MBC, the event was chaired by Dr Dai Roberts the local Chair of the Society here in Northern Ireland, and opened by Professor Ellen-Douglas Cowie Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education & Students here at Queen's.
The event was a great success and was open to all Biology students from UK and ROI Universities with students from the School of Biological Sciences attending in good numbers. Presentations were delivered by a host of speakers and who gave insights into careers in the Environmental sector, Academia, Industry, Patenting, Science Communication and Healthcare. The presentations are available on the Society of Biology website.
During the day students also had the opportunity to speak with a host of Professional bodies and employers and access advice and guidance on related careers and opportunities that exist for students within the Biosciences.
Organisations in attendance included NIEA, NI Water, Almac, Randox, Norbrook, Science Careers, Biochemical Society, British Society of Soil Science, Teach first Society of General Microbiology and the Association of British Pharmaceutical industries amongst others.
