The School’s Self-Assessment Team met the November deadline for submission of our case for a Gold SWAN Award.  From the two photographs shown above it can be appreciated that the School has changed substantially over the last 20 years, and the number of female staff members has greatly increased.  We are very grateful to all those who helped with the data and the submission, including Mark Ravinet and Paulo Prodohl, and particularly thank Angela Mousley, Nessa O’Connor and Chris Harrod for the case studies.

What is SWAN?

The Athena SWAN (Scientific Women's Academic Network) is a scheme which recognises good employment practice for women working in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) in higher education and research.  Queen's University Belfast, was a founder member of the Athena SWAN Charter.

The School of Biological Sciences is fully committed to the aims of this Charter.
