Administrative Responsibilities
Advisor of studies; helping students through the pitfalls of undergraduate academic life  Module coordinator for L1 Genetics and Molecular Biology and L2 Genetic systems (The similarities and differences between microbes and humans).

Research Interests
Meiosis and recombination, and their effects at all levels, from surviving a nuclear holocaust to the evolutionary relationships of the sex lives of liver fluke.

Teaching interests
Subject: Real genetics, how our genes affect us and how much.

Practice:  Developing models to teach the incomprehensible to the unprepared.

Meiosis:  A functional hands-on paper and sellotape model of meiosis from DNA synthesis through chiama to telophase II, Blue Peter style.

Babydrive:  A game based on a beetledrive to teach diploid inheritance and especially dominance and epistasis.  Chromosome cards are dealt carrying 'genetic' instructions, students draw the resulting creatures.
