Manager of the Natural Heritage Research Partnership (NHRP) between the School of Biological Sciences and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).

Lagomorph behaviour, ecology and conservation, specifically the Irish hare (Lepus timidus hibernicus) and the European hare (L. europaeus)  Conservation ecology of priority species  Policy-relevant evaluation of conservation strategies  Applied ecology of farmland species  Ecology of invasive species  Statistical advances in terrestrial mammal abundance estimation techniques  The impact of hunting wild mammals with dogs.
