RCUK has published the latest verion of The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. This document describes seven principles involved in supporting Contract Research Staff around the UK. In response, Queen's has published its own document, Researcher's Career Development, describing how these are to be implemented.
If Research Institutes can demonstrate that they subscribe to the principles of the Concordat and are actively involved in their implementation, they can apply to the EU to be awarded the HR Excellence in Research Badge. QUB is currently applying for this and has produced a detailed plan with a time scale for implementation.
As part of this implementation, STDU are developing a website tailored for contract research staff which contains details on targeted training and development opportunities, career planning and a pretty comprehensive list of job websites. It is definitely worth having a look.
