General Research statement
My main interests are reproductive, behavioural and ecological physiology, working at the whole animal level using a variety of different systems.  I work at the interface of physiology, energetics, behavioural ecology and evolutionary biology.  The main areas of my research may be sub grouped into:
  1. Energy expenditure, metabolism and resting metabolic rate.
  2. Behavioural Ecology, cooperative breeding and the evolution of breeding systems.
  3. The physiology and evolutionary ecology of organisms, with particular emphasis on thermoregulatory adaptations to the environment.
  4. The interactions between energetics, life history strategies and costs of parasitism.
  5. The use of physiological measurements for implementing practical conservation.
