It is our pleasure to welcome you at the 70th Irish Universities Chemistry Research Colloquium (IUCRC) which will take place at the School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Queen’s University Belfast on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd of June 2018.
As always, the IUCRC will highlight the outstanding research being conducted by the best and brightest of Ireland’s young chemists at third level institutions across the island. The schedule will feature a mix of innovative oral, poster and flash presentations from graduate students as well as two exciting plenary lectures from internationally renowned academics.

Outside the scientific programme, there promises to be a strong social programme along with a conference barbeque networking evening and lots more!

The full registration fee includes the colloquium, bed & breakfast accommodation at Stranmillis College, coffee/tea and lunches on both days of colloquium including BBQ on 21st June with access to the lectures and poster session with wine reception.

Please note registration will open at 9am on Thursday 21st June and the colloquium will begin at 11:30am. Further details will follow in due course.
Due to the costs for organising catering, accommodation and location, the conference fee will not be refunded in the case of cancellation after 1st June 2018
Oral presentations will be limited to two selected individuals from each institution. The institute’s co-ordinator should forward the details of the two presenters and their oral presentation by 27th April 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Oral presentations should be prepared using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Instructions for oral preparation:
Authors should prepare oral presentations with a duration of 12 minutes and 3 minutes are reserved for questions. There will be a Windows based laptop computer that will be available in the session room. Your presentations (Microsoft Power-point only) will be accepted in USB Flash Drive form. Please proceed to the conference registration desk upon arrival were you will receive your name badge and conference pack.
Presentations on 21st June
Presentations must be loaded onto the PC in the allocated session room once you have completed registration.
Presentations on 22nd June
Presentations must be loaded onto the system at the end of day 1.
Instructions for poster preparation:
Posters will be capped to four per institute, two of which can be selected for flash presentations (Flash presentation will be a maximum of two minutes / single slide).
Authors will be asked to be available for discussion during the poster sessions.
We encourage that each poster be formatted to fit a maximum size of standard A1-format (A1 poster size refers to poster size that measures 33.11″ x 23.39″ (594 x 841mm). Materials to secure posters to the boards will be provided.
The poster session will be held at the Wellington Park Hotel and at registration, you will be provided with instructions on your poster number. The number will be on the poster board assigned to your poster and posters should be displayed during the lunch break on day 1. Please remember to remove your poster by lunch time on Friday 22nd June.
Accommodation and Venue
Accommodation will be provided in Stranmillis College, Stranmillis Road, Belfast BT9 5DY, Northern Ireland, which is conveniently located within a short walking distance from QUB, only 30 minutes from Belfast International Airport, 10 minutes from Belfast City Airport and less than 2 miles from the buzz of Belfast City Centre.
Proceedings of the Colloquim will take place in Lecture Theate XXXX in the David Keir Building, Stranmillis Road, Belfast BT9 5AG.
