School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
A unique opporunity to conduct high impact research and obtain a PhD/MPhil at the interface between science and engineering.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering provides opportunities for research at the interface between science and engineering. The collaboration between chemists and engineers provides a unique environment for collaborative research which is organised into three themes: Catalysis (), Synthetic and Bioorganic Chemistry (SynBIOC), and Innovative Molecular Materials (IMM), with strong links to Environmental Science and Technology (QUESTOR) and Green Chemistry (QUILL). Extensive refurbishment of research and teaching laboratories has created a world-class working environment for students, researchers and staff.
Pioneering research is the lifeblood of the School and is evidenced by the most recent REF Results (2014), in which 80 per cent of the impact of research in the School was judged to be world leading or internationally excellent. Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was also ranked very highly amongst other institutions in the UK.
Undertaking a PhD is a highly rewarding experience and here at CCE you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most passionate researchers in their field. The School currently has PhD students from countries around the world, and therefore enjoys the many benefits that this brings to its research community.
