POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH DEGREE PROGRAMMES

1.PhD in Film and Visual Studies (Creative Practice)

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates interested in these studio-based programmes providing challenging opportunities for the study of film, photography and imaging via a combination of critical study and creative practice.

Students opting for the creative practice route will produce a body of supervised imaging work designed for exhibition, accompanied by a dissertation of up to 50,000 words intended to assist them in contextualising their work within the broader field of visual culture.

Each student is allocated a specialist supervisor and their studies are overseen by a supervisory committee facilitating access to a wide range of subject expertise.  In addition, students participate in a series of research workshops designed to both  assist them in writing their dissertations and in acquiring the technical skills needed to develop and deliver their practice projects.

All registered students have access to the School’s extensive film and imaging production facilities as well as to first class libraries.
