The MA in Sonic Arts is a one year full-time taught programme that covers multiple aspects of sound, creativity and technology. The course takes advantage of the international cross-disciplinary team and the unique studio and performance facilities at the Sonic Arts Research Centre.
The first semester provides students with a grounding in the field of Sonic Arts and with a detailed insight into sound and its related technologies.
The second semester allows students to focus on current developments in Sonic Arts by enabling them to choose two of five specialised modules.
The programme culminates in a supervised summer research project in the student’s chosen subject area. The research project is also an opportunity to develop skills in cross-disciplinary work by contributing to larger scale commissions and funded projects at SARC.
The MA in Sonic Arts has been running at Queen’s since 1992 and has proven to be extremely successful in preparing graduates for careers in industry, academic research and creative practice.
