Aideen was recently appointed as a Research Assistant in the Centre for Effective Education to work on the process evaluation of the Roots of Empathy Programme.
Aideen has a BA (Hons) in Community Nursing with a specialist diploma in Health Visiting and a post graduate diploma in Social Research Methods. She has recently commenced a PhD (part time) under the supervision of Dr Sarah Miller and Professor Paul Connolly entitled “Parental engagement with schools on child wellbeing: Case studies of the delivery of the Root of Empathy Programme in Schools in Northern Ireland”. This PhD will combine her research interests in socio-emotional development in childhood, parenting and early intervention strategies.
Aideen previously worked in the Institute of Child Care Research, Queen’s University for 8 years and gained considerable experience in quantitative and qualitative research in infant and child feeding, growth, development, parenting, domestic violence, disability and education. Before this she worked for many years as a health visitor and a nurse in the Southern Area and Belfast Trusts working in the community with young families.
