With over 170 students currently studying for higher degrees, the School provides a rich and vibrant atmosphere for those wishing to undertake research degrees.

The research student body is very active and now organises its own regular postgraduate conferences at the School. In addition, research students are encouraged to play a full and active role in relation to the wide range of research activities undertaken within the School.

There are a wide range of resources available to research students within the School including:

  • a wide range of specialist research methods modules
  • office accommodation and support to attend conferences for full-time PhD students.

Funding opportunities - there are various sources of funding available including Department of Employment and Learning (DEL) and University Studentships - UK residents are eligible to apply for DEL Awards which provide funding for both fees and maintenance. EU residents are eligible for fees only awards from DEL and can also apply for University Awards which cover fees and maintenance and international residents are eligible for University Awards which cover fees and maintenance.
