MPhil/PhD

The School of Education offers a dynamic, stimulating and supportive environment for research students. There are a number of full time and part time students enrolled on research degrees and all contribute to the strong research culture within the School. This culture is evidenced by the regular School research seminars which often attract leading researchers in the field and in the annual doctoral conference which is organized by research students in education at UCD and Queen's. School staff can offer high quality supervision in a range of key areas and recent achievements in the Research Assessment Exercise reflect a continuing commitment to high quality educational research.

Funding opportunities - there are various sources of funding available including Department of Employment and Learning (DEL) and University Studentships - UK residents are eligible to apply for DEL Awards which provide funding for both fees and maintenance. EU residents are eligible for fees only awards from DEL and can also apply for University Awards which cover fees and maintenance and international residents are eligible for University Awards which cover fees and maintenance.

Application deadline - There is no deadline for applications for admission for either Full Time or Part Time applicants UNLESS you wish to apply for an award.  Awards are only available to full time students.

You may apply online for DEL and University funding at the same time as applying for a place on a research degree. If FT applicants are seeking awards the deadline for applications is 28 February 2012. Remember - it is not possible to submit an application for an award without also submitting an application for admission.
