Thesis Title: The Outer Limits or The Edge of Reason? The Emergence of the Educational Industrial Complex
Summary of Research: This research aims to examine the emergent phenomenon of science education companies, their motivations and their impacts upon both the stakeholders and beneficiaries. An educational-industrial complex has evolved over many years and a significant amount of literature places a lens on the relationship between industry and education. There appears to be a lack of research into science education companies which have formed in these years. Rather than the geographically bound museums or science centres, these companies travel to schools or in some cases can be situated in a local venue where students are offered the opportunity to experience meaningful scientific presentations.
