Thesis Title: Precision Teaching for Essential Skills for students with ASD in Further Education.
Summary of Research: My research focuses on the use of precision teaching within the Further Education sector, specifically for students diagnosed with ASD and their Essential Skills training, i.e., Numeracy and Literacy. The idea is that personalised performance targets, fluency based training and assessment, together with carefully selected reinforcement schedules, can improve results based on personalised goals. To-date, precision teaching has primarily been used with younger students and has not been widely applied to Essential skills training with post-compulsory school age students.
Personal Statement: I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sports Science at University of Liverpool. I continued at the University of Liverpool with Post Graduate course in Applied Psychology before working in Merseycare NHS in front line mental health services where my work was focussed on the inclusion of people diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses.
