Thesis Title: Intergroup contact in shared education partnerships: a qualitative study. 

Summary of Research: This study explores processes of intergroup contact between students at schools participating in shared education initiatives. It is informed by the critical literature on intergroup contact theory, which argues for greater sensitivity to the contexts in which contact takes place and increased attention to the the interpretive frameworks that participants employ to make sense of their contact experiences. With such criticism in mind, this study uses qualitative methods (observation and group interviewing) to explore the course and outcomes of contact in the shared classes and activities provided within cross-community shared education programmes.
