Why did you choose to study for the EdD at Queen’s School of Education?
I chose the EdD program at Queen's mainly for two reasons: the structure of the modules appealed to me; the topics and structure of assignments provided a framework that appealed to me and prepared me for dissertation work.
As an international student, I chose to study at Queen's because it provided a unique opportunity to learn new educational and professional perspectives and philosophies; it has also provided a multitude of personal and professional growth opportunities.
What have you found most interesting or useful about the course so far?
The faculty within the School of Education have been really encouraging and have offered an educational environment that holds the right balance between challenging and supporting me to learn and grow.
The module structure was helpful in that it helped develop my writing and research skills; the modules also helped prepare for my dissertation topic.
Has the course enhanced your existing knowledge?
Yes, it has broadened my knowledge of research methodologies and practices, educational theories and policies
What is your experience of the teaching support and student facilities at Queen’s?
Positive. Students have a range of supportive resources: the structure of the module tutor during the coursework was really helpful. Having two supervisors for the dissertation phase also has allowed me to work with a multitude of faculty who have different research and professional backgrounds. Faculty and staff both within the School of Education and outside of it have been available to assist with questions that I have had about topics such research and career development.
Where are you in your career at the moment?
I am a full time EDD student in my second year doing dissertation research. My professional background is in Higher Education administration and school counseling and I will be seeking opportunities to continue to work within Higher Education administration and support international student experience.
