A. Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) Studentships (open competition for UK/EU residents only)
The School has two DEL studentships available for 2013-14 entry.

Applications are invited from students for any area of study in education who wish to devise their own research project that relate to one of our research themes.
Two projects have also been identified and applicants may select one of the PhD projects (Table 1) and write a 2000 word proposal to explain how you will undertake research in this field.

The DEL studentships option is available only to candidates who wish to enrol on a full time basis and who meet residence criteria for studentships [ie DEL funding awards]. Applicants are asked to select one of the projects above and write a 2000 word proposal [excluding Bibliography] to explain how you will undertake research in this field. All proposals must include references to academic literature and provide evidence of academic reading within the research field including a paragraph on any ethical issues that are likely to arise in the course of the research. All applicants must contact the relevant named project contavt prior to submitting their application & proposal. Please note that funding is limited and the process is competitive.
Applicants for funding awards should apply for a place on the School of Education's PhD programme via the University's online application portal and should indicate that you wish to be considered for a DEL PhD award. You should also complete the section on funding. The closing date for applications to the awards for projects listed below is 1 February 2013.
