A year in the life of a PGCE student - Final week

After a few busy final weeks during placement it was nice to return to Queen’s knowing that all assignments had been handed in. In the Modern Language’s Department we got off lightly as we were only asked to come in for two days to evaluate the modules, learn of the steps ahead from members of the Educational Boards and to say our goodbyes.

Everyone I spoke to prepared me that the PGCE year would go in extremely fast and I can testify that I found this to be very true. It has been an intensive course and I feel a great sense of achievement after working so hard and completing it successfully.I have acquired a wide range of personal and professional skills during the PGCE course, especially in organisation, time-management, communication and self-confidence.

I am now looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead and feel ready to part with my student days as I prepare to soon step in to the profession of a newly qualified teacher!
