Entrance Requirements

For English Literature and Language:

  • ABB at A-Level, to include English (Literature and/or Language)
  • Combinations of A-levels and AS-Levels will also be considered.

 For English with Creative Writing:

  • ABB at A-Level, to include English (Literature and/or Language)
  • Combinations of A-levels and AS-Levels will also be considered.

Creative Writing only: the standard required will be ABB (to include English*) or BBB at A-level (to include English*) plus B in a fourth AS subject. Applicants who are eligible for consideration will be asked to submit a sample of written work and this will be assessed by academic staff from the School of English. Those whose work meets the required standard will then be called for interview before a final decision is made as to whether or not an offer may be made.

    • ABB

For English and - 

  • Film Studies, French, Irish, Philosophy, Politics, Social Anthropology, Sociology, Spanish and Theology
  • Joint English and Drama; 
    • BBB
