THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION FOR COMMONWEALTH LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE STUDIES (CACLALS) Online Founded in 1973, CACLALS is the only association in Canada that concentrates on the burgeoning field of Commonwealth or postcolonial literatures. CACLALS brings together critics, scholars, teachers, students, and writers who share a common interest in the Commonwealth and postcolonial literatures and the versions of the English language they employ. And it provides members with an international context for studying Canadian literature, introducing a deeper understanding of other cultures and of Canada's multicultural tradition.
