History at Queen's is an excellent base for a wide range of postgraduate research projects leading to the degree of PhD. Candidates for PhD are normally required to hold or be completing an MA (or equivalent) in History or a cognate subject before applying. Click here for information on studying for a PhD in history.

The School of History and Anthropology at Queen's offers a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment in which you can undertake your research for a higher degree. Our feedback from research students, as reflected in the 2011 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey [download - pdf file], is very positive about their experience and compares very favourably with the Russell Group and UK University averages.
