Research topic :

‘Frontier Peoples’ Bazaars in Ruili City’
The research on the local frontier peoples’ bazaars in Ruili, a city on Sino-Burmese border, aims to explore how globalization is experienced by the locals through discussing the different spatial meanings of different groups of people. The temporal and spatial significance behind the changes of geographical meanings can lead to interaction and power relationship between the locals, the government and the global economic power. Therefore the study will be set within the wider Chinese and international sociopolitical context.
