I am from Galway and I am a graduate of National University Ireland, Galway. Following my time in Galway I obtained a M.A. in American History from University College Dublin. After spending some time working I decided to return to academia and pursue a PhD in American History at Queen’s.
I am primarily interested in the issue of race in the United States and how it affected American society in the 20th Century.
My thesis title is ‘Media reaction to and portrayal of the Black Power Movement’. My research seeks to illustrate and analyse the reasons why media coverage of the Civil Rights movement and the Black Power movement differed so dramatically.
My primary supervisor is Professor Catherine Clinton and my secondary supervisor is Dr. Anthony Stanonis.
