Biographical Details
I am a graduate of QUB and a recently retired history teacher. I returned to Queen's in October 2006 as a part-time post-graduate student for the second time. My M.A., which I completed at QUB in 1979, was entitled "The State of the Church in the Diocese of Down and Connor during the Episcopate of Robert Echlin, 1613-1635".
Research Topic and Interests
I have always lived in Bangor, Co. Down and have carried out research into its history for many years. I have contributed articles on various aspects of its history to the Journal of Bangor Historical Society and to Due North. I have also contributed articles to two books: one on Bangor townlands to Every Stoney Acre has a Name (ed. Canavan) and the other on Ballymagee townland to Townlands in Ulster (ed. Crawford & Foy) The focus of my current research is the development of Bangor as a seaside resort 1831-1914 - causes and impact.
